I know it's not Monday, but inspiration waits for no man!

So when I woke up this morning, I had no idea that a friend of mine's post would inspire me to do my own post on inspiration. Her inspiration comes from a very colorful painter. His craft is amazing, however I'm not a painter, nor have I ever found anyones paintings inspire me to paint my own, though Klimt did come close.
My inspiration is a musical one. One that I have listened to now for 17 years. One who helps me write, and think, and sing, and create. He is no secret, I share him with anyone who will listen, so if you've known me long, you've heard of him. Mr. Justin Currie.
He has a Moody, and broody way about him that is pure magic. He started out with a band called Del Amitri in the 80's, but really didn't make it to world known status till the 90's.

He plays more instruments than I can probably count on both hands, maybe including my feet too. His voice is mellow and smooth, with a touch of Scottish tendencies.

His music is soulful, without being soul, heartfelt without being mushy, and brilliant nearly to a fault!

I've never had the pleasure of seeing him live, though I'm a YouTube extreme surfer when it comes to him. His stage presence is amazing, and the stories he tells of his life and travels are captivating!

If there is one thing I have learned from him it is to make your music your own, no matter what anyone else has to say about it. Don't make it to become rich and famous, heck don't even make it so others will listen to it, just make is from the heart!
And honestly, with sideburns like those, don't you at least have to give his wisdom and music a shot?

Music Monday, and a wrap up of the weekend!

My Music Monday is all about a band I just heard of called MEESE. I don't really know that much about them, and honestly I'm not going to find out much about them since they are no longer. But the short flight they had was done well and now Elorna and I can't seem to get their song Tell Me It's Over out of our heads!

All I know is they're from Colorado, and they were only around for about 6 years. Look them up on You Tube, totally worth it! I believe the brothers of the group joined up with a girl and are now in a new band with her. I haven't hears them yet, so I can't say if they're any good or not, but since they seemed to be the driving force behind MEESE (Meese is their last name) I think it's safe to say they might also be pretty good!

And now a few pictures from this weekend! I know it's a huge surprise all the pictures are mostly of my girls!
They're decorating our storm door.

It's a shame they're so shy isn't it?
Elorna's Sunday hair-do!
Elorna stole my phone and went around the house taking pictures of EVERYTHING!!!

Roloff Farms!!!

So almost everyone knows who the Roloff's are, of little people big world. They live only a few miles from my house and every year we like to go and pick out our pumpkins from their farm. Here are some pictures of us, on Elorna's 9th birthday. I'm just putting her birthday pictures in too, since it was all part of a fun filled day!

All of her gifts were a big hit! She had a blast opening everything and we had our hands full trying to keep Bella out of the wrapping paper!

She really wanted the Black Forest cake, and it was awesome!!! Dada picked out the ice cream, Tillamook peanut butter moo I think it's called, vanilla with a peanut butter ribbon, and chocolate covered peanut butter cows!
After cake, we drove to the airport to drop Dada off. He flew out to meet B-Pa in Reno for some guy time with the boys of the family!
Us girls went to Roloff Farms!

They had a lot more things this year!

The pumpkin house is always a big hit!

This is the only orange ribbon I've been able to find in public!

Light the Night 2011

Many of you know that every year I do the Light the Night walk to raise awarness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society here in Portland. This year my two adorable daughters and my awesome mother joined in the fun! I am so thankful that both my girls raised at least $100, and my mom and I both raised some funds too! Thank you to all of you who helped us out!
This was the girls first time riding a train!

So much fun!
