Big Weekend for Elorna

I can remember when Elorna was just a little thing. She was just about the most beautiful little baby I had ever seen, and I've seen a lot of babies! When she got older, her sweet little spirit was so evident! She was the light of my life! I loved going out with her to the mall. My mom and I would always laugh when people would comment on how much she looked like me. "You haven't seen her Daddy, I would usually reply. Any of you who know Jack, know she looks just like him!
And now my little girl is getting so big! I can't believe she is almost 8 already!!! Where did the last 7 1/2 years go?
This past Saturday I woke up, and the thought entered my mind. "If Elorna wants to get her ears pierced when she's 8, like I've always told her she could, then maybe we should do it today. So it's 3 weeks before her 8th birthday, but I want her ears healed and happy for our trip to Disneyland!"
So I went into the girls play room with a handful of my cutest little studs, and asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced. She took one look at all the cool earrings she would get to wear, and said, "YES!!!"
She loved the slug bug earrings but her favorite were the raccoon earrings. Really? What little kid wants to wear dirty little animals in their ears, but that's my girl!
So we got dressed and decided that we should have a Starbucks first, before the big event, which by the way, Jack had no clue we were doing.

STARBUCKS

Then it was off to Clair's to get it done! We had to look at all the earrings for quite some time before we found the perfect ones. First she wanted ones with pretty little stones in it, but I told her that they would catch in her hair and that could hurt. I'm telling you, I wish everyone was blessed with a kid who believes everything you say about pain!
She was so happy about getting her ears pierced, she kept asking when she cold change these plain white gold ball earrings for her raccoon ones. I told her 6 to 8 weeks, just in time for Disneyland, she seemed okay with that!

I filled out paperwork, while Elorna sat there patiently, watching everything the lady was doing to get ready. I don't remember how sterile everything was when I got mine done, all those hundreds of years ago, but now they are really into cleaning everything like 3 times! Thank goodness!

She did great, held really still and it was over in a moment! It took her a few seconds to start crying because of the shock, but the crying really only lasted about 30 seconds, then if faded into a low whimper. She is a trouper. And it must be said that she cried worse and for a much longer amount of time when she did her flu snorter yesterday after school! I told her that, and that made her smile...for a moment.

And 15 minutes later, she was all smiles, playing at the play area with her little sister! She told me right after they pierced her ears that she was never getting that done again, I told her good!

Oops! Okay Music Monday?

Music Monday has a better ring to it anyway, don't you think? Okay it's done then, Music Monday it is! My girls were just telling me how much fun they are having at their new school. No surprise to anyone I'm sure, but one of their favorite activities is when they get to go to music! Ahh, I'm so proud! So this weekend, I decided that instead of our regular Justin Currie, we would listen to some different music in the car. I turned on my phone to Pandora radio and let the hits roll! If anyone of you haven't heard of Pandora radio, you are definitely missing out! You just pick an artist that you want the music to somewhat relate, or sound close to. No surprise, I picked Justin Currie. It's great, they play a few Justin Currie songs, but they play so many other artists that I've never even heard on the radio. Pandora Radio is my new favorite toy!!! Here are a few bands that they played that I was shocked I'd never even heard.
Just beautiful music!
I may just be out of the loop, but has anyone else heard these guys on regular radio? Or maybe it's just that I only listen to morning shows and they just play the same old boring stuff all the time. I have no clue, but I was pleased as punch to hear these! They are now safely tucked away in my phone so I can pull them out and listen any old time I want!

A new school year

So today my little darlings went back to school. Of course they had to wear their new clothes that Nana sent them, and very bright, very glitzy new shoes!
My girls

Elorna is now in 2nd grade, and my little Kaitlyn is in 1st. I can't believe how big they are! So enough of my whining! This year they are going to a new school, and they are so excited to be Orcas!!!! Elorna had already met her teacher last week, and she did not disappoint! She is awesome! Very bubbly just like all of Elorna's teachers before.

And Kaitlyn's teacher is also new this year, and even though Kaitlyn was a little shy, I'm sure that won't last too long!

We have been going to the school to play and get used to it for a few days this week. The girls love it so much because the play area is all under a covering so they can still play if it's raining! Ahh, the joys of childhood!

This year will be great!
